Memorial

The dedication and remembrance ceremony was held on  Saturday, October 18, 2008,  at Clay Senior High School's Memorial Stadium, in Oregon, Ohio.  Ohio Ninth District Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur delivered the keynote address. Approximately 900 people were in attendance, including over 300 people who participated in the HONOR RIDE to the memorial.

There were Veterans from all over the United States who were with our fallen servicemen when they died in attendance.  They came from California, Washington, Colorado, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Michigan, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.  Four of the out-of-town Veterans retired as Lt. Colonels in the U.S. Army.  There were eight servicemen present who were Silver Star recipients.

The HONOR RIDE that preceeded the memorial dedication ceremony saw well over a hundred Vietnam Veterans joined by other military veterans, firemen, law enforcment officers, brothers and sisters of Vets, mom and pops, and many patriotic citizens.  It was a sight to see, 300 motorcycles rolling into the Clay Sr. High School campus, under a giant American Flag draped from an aerial ladder truck of the City of Oregon Fire Department.
